Howdy friends! First, thank you so much for your support as a paid subscriber of Blinking Blue Line!

Let’s get right to it. Below the paywall at the end of this post is your PDF of the outline for Remembrance. Whether you’re a writer yourself and looking for some guidance in planning your own serial, a curious behind-the-scenes type wanting to get a peek at the back end of the story, or a reader looking for more stories who just happened upon this post… I hope that you find this outline both interesting and informative!

I wish beyond anything that I had been able to create a time-lapse video for you from the moment I created this document until the moment I finished writing the story, but we all know how it goes—documents crash, computer batteries die, and autosaved versions become life-savers when you haven’t saved in three weeks…

Just me? Surely not.

I wish I could give you a glimpse into how this document grew and changed over the last seven months, how individual chapters grew and changed during the writing process. But as it is, this is the only copy I have available, so this is what I can offer you. You’ll see my themes list, my expanding summaries (one sentence, one paragraph, and final full outline), my (very brief!) character profiles, and the slightly-updated chapter breakdowns for the original iteration of this story. While I can’t walk you through day by day of how I used the outline, I hope that this “final” but not “pretty” version will give you a general sense of what it looks like to use a flexible/story loom outline to publish a long-form serial here on Substack!
