Welcome to Blinking Blue Line!

This is my little writing desk - the corner of the Internet where I hold myself accountable to sitting down regularly and putting words on the page… or, on the screen. I’m a lifelong writer who let fear drive my creative habits for far too long, and I’m thrilled to be stepping back into the fiction world. My worst writing habit is over-using the em-dash, and I love character-driven stories!

If you want to know more about how I got back into writing after not completing a single project for almost a decade, you can get the whole scoop here:

Wondering what to expect?

  • Writing Crunches: short pieces with a 250-word limit or a 30-minute time limit

  • Flash Fiction: generally either 1,000 words or 2,500 words

  • Short Stories: up to about 10,000 words

  • Serialized Novels: 50,000+ words told in weekly chapters around 1,500-2,000 words

At this time (August 2023), I’m still working out my publishing schedule - we’re about to begin a new academic year and will be working out new routines for this season. I’ll update this page as I’m able to commit to a schedule that is both practical and challenging. In particular, look for details about my serialized novel, Remembrance, which I hope to begin posting soon.

Looking for a taste before you commit?

I’m particularly fond of this Flash Fiction length story I wrote for the 2023 Gibberish Competition:

The challenge was to write a bottle episode - three characters, one setting, and lots of pressure - and I’m pretty proud of the result!
